Clinical Track Faculty Position
The Washington State University (WSU) Intercollegiate College of Nursing (ICN) is seeking applications from exceptional clinicians and educators for Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor positions within our College. Clinical Track positions are three year renewable term appointments. The College has a reputation for delivering high quality and assessable education to baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral (i.e., PhD) students. Graduates of our undergraduate and graduate programs are recognized throughout the region for their sound judgment and facile clinical skills.
With campuses in Pullman, Spokane, Vancouver, and
Tri-Cities, Washington, WSU serves more than 23,000
students statewide. The College of Nursing serves more
than 1,000 students and offers a: 1) baccalaureate
program, 2) RN to BS program, and 3) master of nursing
(MN) program leads to specialization as a) family nurse
practitioner, b) psychiatric/mental health nurse
practitioner, or c) community–based
population-focused nurse. In summer 2007, the
College welcomed its inaugural cohort of PhD students
into our new doctoral program. Our faculty research
programs address: 1) acute biobehavioral nursing
outcomes, 2) chronic biobehavioral nursing outcomes,
and/or 3) health care systems. In January 2009, the
College will move into a new state-of-the-art 80,000
square foot building located on the WSU-Spokane
campus.
Campus Descriptions:
Spokane: The College’s flagship campus is
located in Spokane. Spokane offers abundant natural
beauty, four distinct seasons and 260 sunny days each
year. Located in Eastern Washington, 18 miles from
Idaho, 280 miles from Seattle and 110 miles from the
Canadian border, Spokane is the largest city between
Minneapolis and Seattle.
Tri Cities: Located in South Central Washington,
WSU’s Tri-Cities campus is located on the banks of
the Columbia River. With a total population of over
150,000 residents, the Tri-Cities area averages over 300
days of sunshine a year for outdoor recreation.
Vancouver: Vancouver, Washington (population
160,000) is located in Southwest Washington adjacent from
Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Coast is less than 90
miles to the west and the Cascade Mountain Range rises on
the east. WSU’s Vancouver campus serves more
than 2,500 students in a variety of disciplines and is
WSU’s fastest growing campus.
Description of Positions:
Clinical Track faculty members will be responsible for: 1) teaching undergraduate and/or master’s students, 2) serving on master’s thesis/clinical project committees, 3) advising undergraduate and/or graduate students, 4) maintaining clinical expertise including credentials appropriate to specialty and teaching responsibilities, 5) participating in clinical scholarship, and 6) providing service to the university, community and profession of nursing. Rank dependent upon qualifications. Three clinical track faculty positions are available; two at the Spokane campus (specialty undesignated) and one at the Vancouver campus (adult psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner credentials required).
Qualifications:
Required:
- Hold a master’s degree in a nursing specialty and advanced practice credentials consistent with teaching assignment. Earned doctorate in nursing or related field is required for appointment to Clinical Associate Professor.
- Clinical expertise in area of instruction.
- A commitment to clinical scholarship.
- A commitment to diversity and the reduction of health disparities.
- The Vancouver position requires certification as a
psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner.
Preferred:
- Ability to teach using various distance-education modalities.
- Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate
students.
- Demonstrated involvement in clinical
scholarship.
Salary:
Dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Estimated Begin Date: Position starts August 16,
2008.
