WORQs Notes

Some notes on WORQS

One of the most important areas to keep current is publications.

Before entering publications,  you’ll need to be sure that  you have set up as collaborators all the people with whom you have co-authored anything.  WSU faculty will appear in the WSU list under their home unit.  Add non-WSU collaborators manually.

You’ll also need to be sure the journals in which you publish are in the master WSU list.  The ISSN is the easiest way to find journals; titles also work.  If you cannot find the journal you need, submit the information so library folks can track it down and enter it for you.  PubMed is a good source of ISSNs for journal titles.  Add all the journals in which you’ve published or submitted this year to My Journals.

This is from WORQS help:

If you select journal article or essay in journal, you must select the name of the journal from the list of journals. If you have not already added journals, you must do so before you can add a journal entry. For journals that have no ISSN, select journal no ISSN and enter the journal name in the Publication box.
Enter optional information as pertains to the your work. Enter only the information used in a citation. Do not enter anything in boxes that are not relevant to the citation.
If the work was collaborative, select the names of co-authors or collaborators from your lists (see collaborators). Use the list order box to specify the order in which names should be listed in the citation.

Later on, it will be easy to copy and paste from WORQS publications into your Community of Science profile (really, it is!).

Bob Pringle will be glad to work with anyone with questions.
